Fall/Winter Season

The season promises to provide our student-athletes with outstanding opportunities to compete in high school hockey. As one of only a few high school sponsored hockey programs in Illinois, we are proud to field both Varsity and Junior Varsity team. Hockey is a lettered sport at Stevenson High School and our teams play in the most competitive Illinois High School league in the state.

Freshman through Seniors

Tryouts are held the second week in August, typically a few days before school starts and runs through mid-March.

The Stevenson Hockey club primarily skates out of Twin Rinks Ice Pavilion in Buffalo Grove. Most home games and practices will be held here. Occasionally there may be a practice at Glacier, Top Shelf Ice (Gurnee), Pleasant Prairie or Mount Prospect.

On average JV and Varsity practice three times per week during either 60 or 90 minute slots.

JV and Varsity both play in the Scholastic Hockey League. JV and Varsity both play in three tournaments during the year; a pre-season tournament, Annual Stevenson Hockey Thanksgiving Tournament and Holiday Tournament. In addition, Varsity travels out of town for a fourth tournament, typically in late October. Between regular season league games, playoffs, exhibition games, and tournaments Varsity averages 50-60 games and JV averages 40-50.

If you're new to the program there is a one time new player package fee of $815.00 that includes a team bag, a set of game jerseys, shell, warm-ups, game socks, green helmet and green gloves. A green helmet and gloves are required. In addition, if you are a selected for varsity, there is an additional $240 Alternate Jersey package required.

Additional Costs

Each team has a slush/team fund that is required. Depending on the year the fee varies but is typically around $300 for JV and $600 for Varsity.
