We would like to formally congratulate Dan Wood for taking the helm as the new Hockey Director and Varsity Head Coach! He’s continuing the family legacy following his brother, Tom Wood, the most recent Hockey Director and his father, Jim Wood, as the Hockey Director prior to Tom.
Dan has been a member of the Stevenson Hockey coaching staff for 11 years, holding roles across all three teams. During his coaching tenure, many historical firsts were achieved including: First Varsity State Championship (2021-2022), Varsity USA Hockey Nationals Runner Up (2021-2022), Varsity State Runner-Up (2017-2018), 3 Varsity Final Four appearances and a JV State Championship (2012-2013 Season).
In addition to coaching Stevenson, he’s also the Head Coach and Hockey Director for DePaul University. He’s a Level 5 USAH coach. Dan is highly focused and excited to continue to drive the program forward!
Congratulations to the Varsity team who took the championship on Friday Dec 30th over GBN in a very tight game; winning 7-4. The game was back and forth the entire time with SHS and GBN trading goals all game with no team ever having a 2 goal lead until an empty netter at 1:01 in the 3rd iced it for Stevenson.
Davis Jegers, Tristan Caridei and Will Harlow were selected last week to play in the Scholastic League All-Star game against the Chicago Catholic League on Dec. 30 at AllState Arena. The game starts at 1 p.m. In addition, Dylan Jette, Bryan Wojdelko and Andrew Lermer will be participating in the skills competition during the intermission of the Wolves game. The Patriots will be in action over the holiday break Dec. 26 through Dec. 28. Pictured in the photo from left to right are: Wojdelko, Jegers, Harlow, Caridei, Lermer and Jette.
After our boys hockey team won their first state championship since the team's inception in 1993, they continued their winning streak at the National Championships in Dallas where they took second overall.
The Stevenson Boys Ice Hockey team (45-15-0) concluded its magical season with a trip to the USA Hockey National Tournament. The Patriots went up against the top High School teams in Massachusetts, Utah, Texas, Colorado, Arizona and Minnesota. After losing a tight game versus Pope Francis Prep (MA) 2-1 in the opener, Stevenson made a run of 4 wins in a row taking them all the way to the Nationals final defeating before losing to the one of the most storied hockey programs in the country, Shattuck St. Mary's (MN). For the tournament, Stevenson's leading scorers were Davis Jegers with 7 goals, 3 assists, Dylan Jette with 3 goals and 7 assists, Cam Schneider with 9 assists and Will Harlow with 2 goals and 4 assists.
This was a season of firsts for the Boys Hockey Program, with their first-ever Illinois State Championship, first-ever appearance and runner-up finish in USA Hockey Nationals and, on top of that, their first ever Stevenson Community Service award.
Special thanks go to our seniors Nolan Jones, Raffi Biedron, Jonathan Adler, Brody Stokes, Cam Schneider, Mac Fitzpatrick, Beckett Cole and Tuggy Erdenebat. We wish them well in their future both on and off the ice. We would also like to thank Stevenson High School faculty and staff, Stevenson Athletics, the Boosters and especially our student fans whose support and enthusiasm helped to carry us through this amazing season.
