Stevenson Parents and Players,
I apologize for the late notice but we are going to reschedule the Fall Parent/Player Information Session planned for this evening. There will be an AHAI Presidents meeting at the same time as our info session tonight and given the dynamics of the Fall hockey season, we believe that it would be helpful to postpone and share any new information we learn with you during our info session.
The new schedule is as follows:

Thanks again for your patience and flexibility in these extraordinary times.
Stevenson Hockey Families,
We would like to update you on the constantly evolving season ahead of us. We will continue to communicate with all of our families as the situation develops as it seems every day brings something new.
Registration is still open for the Fall and we plan on skating a full season for both JV and Varsity. If you have not yet registered, please follow the procedure detailed at the following link: Stevenson Hockey Fall 2020/2021 Registration
We will be proceeding with tryouts as planned on August 10th, 11th and 13th. The latest guidelines from the Governor classify hockey as a high risk sport and as such limit us to non-contact practices and skills training.
Once teams are formed, we will skate a full schedule of both team practices and skills sessions. Our coaches will use this added time effectively with the goal of improving skating and technical skills. We will also continue to invest in strength and conditioning through our off ice programs in order to become stronger hockey players.
When will games be permitted?
No one knows the answer to this. Guidance from the Governor's office lacks specifics, and as such the governing bodies (AHAI, IHSA, SHL) are limited in what they can communicate. We do know based on the latest communication from AHAI that High School hockey will be treated no differently that Tier I or Tier II clubs so we are all in the same situation with regards to game play. There are many scenarios: could we start our competitive season in November and extend the season through to spring break? Could we start after the first of the year and extend into April? We just do not know at this point.
Along with the other High School programs and clubs in the area, we continue to strongly advocate for a re-classification of youth hockey as a "high risk" activity, or modifications to the most recent guidelines. We believe with simple modifications such as proper arena protocols, limiting use of locker rooms, mandating "full shields" on helmets, and limiting spectators in rinks, we can play safely as we have over the Spring/Summer season. Strict adherence to our Return to Play Protocols have resulted in zero cases of COVID-19 across our hockey program. Sports participation is important for children, but our priority is and will continue to be the safety of our players and coaches. We believe that with your support, we can have a safe and successful season.
In the event that we are unable to achieve our planned practices/skills and/or games, there will be a revision of dues and refunds issued accordingly.
